Croatia is quickly becoming a very popular vacation destination. It is a beautiful country with amazing history and gorgeous nature, and there are innumerable things to see and do there. But is you only have limited time, you would want to use it wisely. That is why we have compiled a list of things that shouldn’t be missed when visiting the Queen of the Adriatic.
If you have the budget for it, make sure you look into sailing the Adriatic Sea. Croatia has many islands that can only be accessed by boat. Also, it has a myriad of hidden beaches and secret coves where you can bathe in perfect privacy and take advantage of the clean sea and clear skies.
Croatia boasts as many as 8 national parks, and you should make sure to visit at least one during your stay. The most popular one is Plitvice, which has amazing waterfalls and stunning forests. There is also the Mljet national park and Krka national park, which are both easy to reach from Zadar or Split.
There are many small historical cities in Croatia, and you would be smart to visit at least one. Many of them are protected by UNESCO. If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, visit the filming site of King’s Landing – the Old City of Dubrovnik. If you’re looking for something less crowded, look into Stari Grad on Hvar, or the towns of Šibenik, Trogir or Poreč.
Croatia has many delicacies that you can try while there. Traditional Croatian restaurants are calles konobas, so if you want to try great Croatian food, find a konoba and feast! There are also often traditional parties and music in these old restaurants, so if you want something fun party in a konoba – the Croatian way!
Don’t skip the capital
Many tourists often skip the capital of Croatia – Zagreb, and go straight for the coast. But the capital has many interesting things to do and see, including a bustling cultural scene, historical sites , great architecture, shopping and party places!
